TWC supported the environmental assessment for the Fraser River Tunnel Project, a proposed eight-lane immersed tube tunnel replacing the George Massey Tunnel. Working with the Transportation Investment Corporation, TWC engaged 19 First Nations to support consensus-seeking under BC’s 2018 EA Act. We co-developed Chapter 11: Assessment of Project Effects to Indigenous Interests, integrating Indigenous Knowledge and perspectives. TWC created tools to manage Indigenous Knowledge respectfully, including confidentiality protocols and a searchable database.
Our culturally safe, adaptable approach ensured meaningful engagement, streamlined regulatory processes, and upheld commitments to First Nations while meeting provincial environmental assessment requirements.
