TWC supported Traditional Knowledge collection as part of the commitment to ensure that remediation planning also reflected Tłıc̨hǫ interests. Traditional Knowledge was gathered from Gamètì to multiple sites around Great Bear Lake. TWC worked with the Tłıc̨hǫ Government, Crown‑Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, the Tłı̨chǫ Government, and the community of Gamètì. The project brought together community‑centred engagement and spatial information to ensure that planning and regulatory reporting reflected Traditional Knowledge and local priorities.

Our role included coordination support, engagement planning, and respectful documentation of Traditional Knowledge shared by Elders and land users. In parallel, TWC contributed GIS and spatial‑mapping support to help visualize place‑based narratives, historical land use, and culturally significant areas. These mapping products were developed collaboratively to support shared understanding of the remediation context.

By combining relationship‑centred engagement with Indigenous‑informed spatial mapping, the project strengthened collaboration among partners, informed decision‑making, and supported thoughtful long‑term stewardship around Great Bear Lake.

Work with us

We aim to attract great people and to pull together the very best project teams on behalf of clients and communities. We search for those with deep technical expertise and a quality orientation, who lead with something more than their professional skills. It matters to us that TWC team members are both skilled and kind. We want our team and new hires to sense there’s something special happening here, and to feel: I’m a part of it.
